Primary Care Paramedic - District

As a Primary Care Paramedic, you'll provide front-line emergency medical services to

residents and visitors across the Thunder Bay District. Whether responding to urgent

medical emergencies, providing compassionate patient care, supporting public

education initiatives, or working as part of an integrated emergency response system,

you'll help make a meaningful difference in people's lives every day.

How You'll Support Patient Care

In this role, you will provide emergency medical assessment, treatment, monitoring, and

transportation services in accordance with provincial legislation, professional standards,

and Superior North EMS protocols. You will also have the following accountabilities:

• Respond to ambulance calls within a specified timeframe and report each

movement of ambulance or emergency response unit immediately to Central

Ambulance Communication Centres (CACC) as required by Superior North EMS

policies and procedures.

• Assess environmental risks and responds to patient(s) and personal safety

needs.

• Conduct patient triage assessment and evaluation.

• Administer and provide patient care in accordance with Basic Life Support

Patient Care Standards (BLS PCS), Advanced Life Support Patient Care

Standards (ALS PCS), and all other required Standards as set by the Ministry of

Health and Long-Term Care, Emergency Health Services Branch.

• Provide documentation, including ambulance call reports and incident/collision

reports as required and as per the Ontario Ambulance Service Documentation Standards

• Clean, maintain, restock and/or decontaminate equipment, supplies, vehicles,

and base stations as required.

• Comply with direction from CACC regarding safe transportation of patients.

• Advise CACC of availability of vehicle and location as required by the BLS PCS;

ensure CACC is notified whenever a vehicle is removed from service for repair or

maintenance.
