POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor Traffic Control and Street 

Lighting and the direction of the Crew Leader, gives technical direction to the Technician II’s and 

repairs, installs, and maintains all equipment necessary for an effective and efficient Traffic Control & 

Street Lighting system for the Corporation.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. Responsible for installing all new Traffic Control & Street Lighting. 

2. Responsible for maintaining and repairing Traffic Control & Street Lighting equipment. 

3. Assumes the duties of the Crew Leader when assigned. 

4. Attends Safety, Traffic Control and Electrical seminars. 

5. Performs such other related duties as may be assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education/Experience: 

? A certified Journeyman Electrician (Licence) or Journeyman Power Lineman Licence is required 

Skills/Abilities: 

? Must possess and maintain a valid Class “G” Ontario Drivers Licence, or equivalent 

? Must meet the definition of a competent driver as defined by the Corporation  

? Must be reliable with the ability to effectively assign work, direct and instruct employees 

? Must be capable of dealing with the public in a courteous and tactful manner 

? Must be able to understand, read, write and speak English fluently 

? Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, as amended, and 

be capable of issuing clearly understandable written and oral instructions 

Assets: 

? Experience in installation, maintenance and repair of Traffic Control & Street Lighting systems  

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: 

? Within 15 working days of receiving a conditional offer of employment, must successfully obtain a 

written beginners licence for an Ontario “D” Class drivers licence with a “Z” endorsement 

? After training, must  obtain and maintain an Ontario "D" class licence with a ‘Z’  endorsement 

? Must remain a competent driver as defined by the Corporation 

? May be required to provide a successful driver’s record (uncertified)
