POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor – Environmental Services, processes and porters soiled and clean linen and residents’ personal clothing, maintains a clean and safe work area, and performs other duties as assigned.

•Picks up and processes soiled laundry and residents’ personal clothing.
•Delivers clean linen and clothing back to the units.
•Ensures all duties meet the Infection Control Guidelines for laundry processing.
•Mends and labels residents’ clothing.
•Checks supplies and cleans and maintains equipment and work areas.
•Processes / identifies all new linen and personal clothing.
•Attends meetings and educational services, as required.
•Assists courier to load and unload laundry, as required.
•Performs other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
•Grade 10 education, together with previous institutional/commercial laundry experience; or
•Equivalent combination of education and experience
•Mending experience would be an asset
Skills/Abilities:
•Must be capable of accurately comprehending written/oral information and instructions
•Must be highly motivated and able to work as a team member
•Must have a genuine interest and understanding of the needs of the elderly
•Must possess basic computer skills
•Must be competent within the meaning of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
•Must be physically able to perform the essential duties of the position
•Must provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination at point of conditional offer
•Prior to commencing employment, will be required to review and attest/affirm to all Pioneer Ridge Staff Immunization Policies
•Must have successfully undergone a "two step" tuberculosis skin test within the 12 months prior to employment
•Must undergo a successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
•Prior to commencing employment, must undergo a successful Offence & Professional Misconduct Declaration Process
•Must successfully complete all mandatory training as required by the Corporation on an annual basis
