POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Sport & Community Development Supervisor, oversees service delivery at Fort William Gardens, including ticketing operations and user group relationship management, and secures large-scale entertainment events for municipal event venues. Develops marketing, sponsorship, naming rights and advertising initiatives for programs, facilities and services, with focus on those offered by the Sport & Community Development Section. Serves as a fundraising subject matter expert for the Recreation & Culture Division.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Prepares and implements marketing and advertising strategies and fundraising and sponsorship campaigns in collaboration with section and Division staff and volunteers.

•Develops relationships with event promoters and production houses to secure large-scale entertainment events for municipal arenas and stadia and other municipal event venues.

•Participates in bid preparations for major sporting events to be held at Fort William Gardens.

•Liaises with community groups, event promoters, service providers and staff in the Corporation and ensures contract fulfilment; negotiates agreements and maintains

•Oversees customer service delivery at Fort William Gardens including the management of relationships with facility user groups and the provision of ticketing services.

•Serves as on-site facility supervisor at Fort William Gardens and other City facilities as required during events.

•Serves as a fundraising subject matter expert and a resource/support to Recreation & Culture Division staff.

•Coordinates the sale of advertising and sponsorship opportunities within Recreation & Culture Division facilities such as rink boards, signage, digital advertising and naming rights.

•Maintains, monitors and updates social media sites and website. Responds to feedback on multiple social media platforms.

•Completes grant applications for the programs, facilities and services offered by the Sport & Community Development Section; supports Division and Departmental grant applications as requested.

•Supervises staff including staff development, performance management/review, coaching/mentoring, health and safety, discipline, and termination decisions.

•Participates in the development of organizational goals, strategies and projects.

•Participates in the preparation of annual reports and newsletters.

•Attends meetings as required and presents and reports as required.

•Performs such other related duties as may be required.

Education/Experience:

•Degree in Business, Recreation, Public or Community Relations, Human Services or Social Sciences or other related discipline with two (2) years directly related experience or

•Diploma in Business, Recreation, Public or Community Relations, Human Services or Social Sciences or other related discipline with four (4) years directly related experience.

•Experience with fundraising, corporate sponsorship sales, advertising sales, procurement and administration of grants.

Skills/Abilities:

•Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, and have superior writing and editing skills, on-line communications expertise and an understanding of effective graphic design

•Ability to solve complex problems and manage/mediate conflicts in a positive and timely manner

•Ability to identify, understand, and meet/exceed the requirements of internal and external customers

•The ability to analyse and understand financial implications of proposals, and the ability to perform some cost calculations and respond accordingly

•Ability to establish and maintain effective professional and working relationships with a variety of people including funding agencies, staff, community partners and the public

•Must have the demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and to work under time constraints and changing deadlines

•Excellent project/time management, analytical/critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills

•Must be creative and innovative and able to generate new ideas/concepts

•Proficient with office equipment and software including the internet and social media applications

•Must be at a basic skill level in word processing and spreadsheet software, and must possess basic on-line data entry skills

•Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

•May be required to travel to various work locations and provide own transportation

•Must be able to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, as required

•Must undergo a successful Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)
