Position Overview:

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Communications, the Communications Manager is responsible for managing all program functions required for external and internal communications. 

Externally, the Communications Manager facilitates media and public relations; manages communications materials and supports community outreach activities by other programs and services; develops and maintains communication materials for presentations; and enhances Dilico’s profile throughout the Indigenous, health care and social service sectors, its stakeholders, and the public. 

Internally, the Communications Manager is responsible for leading and strengthening Dilico’s internal communications framework, ensuring staff across all programs, district offices, and regional service locations are informed, aligned, and connected to the organization’s mission, values, and priorities. This role will establish clear internal communications structures, processes, and standards, while supporting leadership and teams in communicating consistently and effectively across the organization. 

The Communications Manager will also be responsible for supervising the communications staff.

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Post secondary education in the field of business administration with major course work in public relations, marketing, communications, journalism, social services, Indigenous studies or a related field. Minimum of a College Diploma, University degree preferred. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • An individual who is of Anishinabe ancestry with understanding of Anishinabe history, culture, traditions, ceremonies and values is preferred.
  • Must have significant job-related experience with demonstrated competence and ability to analyze and interpret organizational communication issues. 
  • Must have experience with management and leadership, with demonstrated knowledge and skills in the areas of marketing, communications, public relations, project management and organizational development.
  • Must have and exercise professional judgment regarding public relations issues and can respond to public relations issues. 
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and travel as required, including to Robinson-Superior communities and other locations as needed. 
  • Must possess a Class “G” Ontario Driver’s License and have access to a personal vehicle.
  • Satisfactory criminal records check.

 

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
