In this role, you will:

Provide overall project management leadership for assigned Smart Growth Action Plan initiatives, including implementation planning, feasibility and readiness assessments, coordination of supporting studies, and integration of departmental, consultant, and partner inputs.

Establish and maintain project controls for assigned initiatives, including scope, schedule, budget, risk, and issue management, while coordinating technical, planning, and policy inputs provided by other departments.

Participate as the Division representative and liaison in major corporate projects as part of cross-functional and multi-departmental teams, supporting coordination, alignment, and integration of project inputs.

Lead multidisciplinary project teams of staff, consultants, developers and suppliers.

Develop, implement, and monitor detailed project plans, including resource requirements, milestones, deliverables, decision tracking, and change management procedures, and provide advice and recommendations related to project-specific implementation requirements.

Apply sound project management methodologies and tools in accordance with corporate standards to support consistent planning, reporting, and delivery across assigned projects.

Procure and manage consultants and contractors in accordance with corporate policies and procedures.

Monitor the budget for capital projects, ensuring budget compliance; identify project budget changes within approved parameters; action budget changes and maintain and adhere to the approved budget and provide regular budget updates.

 

Degree in business administration, public administration, political science, economics, engineering, architecture or related field, together with a minimum of 5 years of related complex project management experience, including cross-departmental coordination, change management and stakeholder engagement, and public consultation preferably in a government setting; or

Diploma in business administration, public administration, political science, economics, engineering, architecture or related field, together with a minimum of 7 years of related complex project management experience, including cross-departmental coordination, change management and stakeholder engagement, and public consultation preferably in a government setting.

Demonstrated understanding of municipal governance, Council decision-making processes, and the implementation of Council-approved plans and strategies Ability to work effectively within a politically sensitive environment and to support informed decision-making by senior leadership and City Council.

Ability to establish and monitor project schedules, budgets and delivery processes.

Proven acumen in business and financial management, with the ability to determine, analyze and understand financial implications of proposals and the ability to perform some cost calculations and respond accordingly.
