POSITION SUMMARY:  Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor - Environmental Services, responsible for the preventive, routine and remedial maintenance of the building, its equipment and grounds. Participates in the Maintenance Services Total Quality Management Program of Pioneer Ridge.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Completes all required maintenance in the Home in accordance with all procedures, regulations and by utilizing and maintaining the electronic Home’s preventative maintenance program for the building operation and all equipment.  

Responsible for the preventative, routine and remedial ongoing building maintenance, its equipment and grounds, including repairs and upkeep, as well as checks and inspections.  

Monitors the  computerized building system to ensure that the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning program are functional, and completes all required daily reports. 

Participates in the maintenance of the grounds, parking lots, and sidewalks of the Home including grass cutting and snow removal. 

Transports heavy equipment, materials and furniture as required and ensures meeting room and program set ups are completed in a timely manner.  

Participates in the building security program under the direction of the Supervisor or designate. 

Participates in special projects, as assigned. 

Attends meeting and educational programs. 

Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:        Education/Experience: 

Secondary school graduation, or an equivalent combination of education, technical training, and experience in a skilled trade (i.e. refrigeration, heating, plumbing, etc)  

Must have a minimum of two years maintenance experience in an institutional or industrial setting 

Must have experience with pneumatic controls and hydronic heating  

Working knowledge of H.V.A.C., control circuitry, boilers, electricity, carpentry, etc.  

Skills/Abilities: 

Must be highly motivated, work well in a team environment and be able to work with a minimal of supervision 

Ability to converse and relate to residents, staff and the public in a courteous and tactful manner  

Must be capable of issuing and accurately comprehending written/oral information and instructions 

Must be capable of reporting, both in writing and verbally, on building mechanical system conditions and/or problems 

Demonstrated ability to operate a computer and electronic mail software 

Must possess and maintain a valid Class "G" Ontario Drivers Licence, or equivalent  

Must meet the definition of a competent driver as defined by the Corporation 

Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 

Assets: 

Working knowledge of computerized preventative maintenance programs 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: 

May be required to travel to various work locations and provide own transportation 

Must provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination at point of conditional offer 

Prior to commencing employment, will be required to review and attest/affirm to all Pioneer Ridge Staff Immunization Policies 

Must be physically able to perform the essential duties of the position  

Must remain a competent driver as defined by the Corporation. 

May be required to provide a successful driver’s record (uncertified) 

Must have successfully undergone a "two step" tuberculosis skin test within the 12 months prior to employment 

Must undergo a successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) 

Prior to commencing employment, must undergo a successful Offence & Professional Misconduct Declaration Process 

Must successfully complete all mandatory training as required by the Corporation on an annual basis
