Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Family Preservation Coordinator acts as the coordinator and clinical lead for Family Preservation Services (FPS).
The Family Preservation Coordinator will ensure that the programming meets the current developmental, treatment and psychosocial needs of the client group, including liaising with other Service Providers. Further, the Coordinator will assist in managing of the Family Preservation Services waitlist in the City and District and coordinating delivery parenting programming in the district. Travel to the district will be an important part of the coordinator role. In addition, the Family Preservation Coordinator will assist in ensuring that the Family Preservation Services Team offers a consistent and coordinated approach across units.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- A minimum HBSW or related degree with four years child/family counselling experience is required. An MSW is preferred.
- minimum of four (4) years direct service and counselling with children, adolescents and families;
- a combination of training and successful experience in working with the Anishinabek people, culture, communities, traditions, and teachings;
- significant experience in family intervention and / or group facilitation.
- satisfactory Criminal Records Search; including a Vulnerable Sector Search;
- a valid Standard First Aid/CPR Certificate is required;
- work flexible hours, according to the needs of families;
- travel substantially in communities in and around the District of Thunder Bay;
- work in the homes and locations familiar to client families;
- posses a valid Class “G” Driver’s Licence, and
- have access to a personal vehicle;
- carry satisfactory liability insurance;
- produce a satisfactory driver’s record.
Hours of Work: 32.5 hours per week
