Position Overview:

The goal of the Intensive Child & Family Worker is to keep families together.  The worker supports caregivers, including their emotional needs, throughout the treatment process, by assisting the family in addressing crises, and helping the family understand the treatment needs of the child.  

 

The Intensive Child & Family Worker works as part of a service team to help the family maintain or improve their ability to preserve itself as a healthy and effective caregiving system. The worker and team do this by engaging the primary caregivers, the siblings, and extended family or community members who have a vested interest in the wellbeing of the family.  

 

The service is provided mostly in the family home and in the community in both the City and District of Thunder Bay

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A minimum two-year Human Services Diploma is required. HBSW is preferred 
  • Three or more years of direct service and counselling with parents and children, particularly Anishinabek clients, is required.
  • Experience in working with Anishinabek children, families and communities.
  • Significant demonstrated experience in family intervention and / or group facilitation is required.
  • Training in Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) and Circle of Security (COS) is preferred.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Records Search, including Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • A valid Standard First Aid/CPR Certificate is recommended.
  • Work flexible hours, according to the needs of families.
  • Ability to travel to the District of Thunder Bay
  • Work in the homes and locations familiar to client families.
  • Possess a valid Class “G” Driver’s License, have access to a personal vehicle, carry satisfactory liability insurance and produce a satisfactory driver’s record.

Hours of Work: 32.5 weekly
