Position Overview:

Under the direction of the Alternative Care 4 Manager or designate, the Residential Worker is responsible for establishing a safe nurturing family setting environment in a children’s residential setting. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide parent model care for a child that is consistent with the philosophy, approach, goals, and learning environment established by Dilico Anishinabek Family Care.

  • The candidate must hold a certificate, diploma, or degree in a Human Services program.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience with Anishinabek Children and Youth in a residential care setting.
  • Preferably Child Welfare experience
  • Candidates without the specific education qualifications but have experience and skills that are directly related to the duties of the staff person, the program provided by the Alternative Care 4 Manager and the needs of the youth serviced by the Alternative Care 4 Manager.
  • A First Nation, Inuk or Metis Elder, Knowledge Keeper, Healer, Medicine Person, Traditional Person, or Cultural Person who possesses, in that capacity, cultural knowledge and skills that are directly relevant to the program.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Records Search with a vulnerable sector screening
  • Must possess a valid Standard First Aid/CPR Certificate.
  • Provide proof of a Negative TB Skin test, MMR vaccinations, and current tetanus vaccine.
  • Be able to complete the Pre-Service Education Requirement.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel regularly work on an on-call basis as determined by the Alternative Care 4 Manager in relation to service requirements.
  • Must possess a Class “G” Driver’s License and have access to a reliable personal vehicle and have $1,000,000 liability vehicle insurance.
