Position Summary:

 Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Clinical Counsellor provides in-office and community-based support to youth and adults. The role includes both individual and group programming, using evidence-informed approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), with DBT experience considered an asset.

 This position supports clients with complex psychosocial needs, offering structured, goal-oriented support while respecting each client’s readiness and pace of engagement. The Clinical Counsellor works in collaboration with community partners and multidisciplinary teams to provide trauma-informed, culturally safe, strength-based, and harm-reduction–informed services, including travel to First Nation communities as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide assessment and structured support to individuals, youth, and adults, addressing complex psychosocial needs
  • Facilitate both individual and group programming, adapting approaches to client readiness and pace
  • Apply trauma-informed, culturally safe, strength-based, and harm-reduction–informed approaches
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and community partners to support holistic client care
  • Develop, implement, and update support plans and interventions in accordance with client goals and progress
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation for all services provided
  • Participate in ongoing program evaluation and outcome measurement to support continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) — preferred
  • Master’s degree in Child and Youth Care, Counselling, Community Services, Human Services, or other applied social sciences — acceptable with relevant  and extensive clinical experience
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant clinical experience supporting Indigenous individuals, youth, and families, including in individual counselling, community mental health, child and youth services, substance use programs, or other applied social service settings
  • Candidates must have demonstrated clinical experience appropriate to the scope of practice for social work or applied social service roles
  • Experience working with Indigenous populations, with an understanding of cultural safety, community contexts, and historical and systemic impacts
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed, culturally safe, and harm-reduction practice
  • Experience facilitating therapeutic or psychoeducational groups (DBT group experience is an asset)
  • Valid Class G Driver’s License and access to a vehicle
  • Criminal Records Check (Vulnerable Sector)

Hours of Work: 32.5 weekly
