DIRECTOR OF JUSTICE PROGRAMS

The Director of Justice Programs is responsible for the strong performance of the NALSC Justice sector, the achievement of work plans and objectives, and effective client services. This is a managerial position that reports and is accountable to the Executive Director of NALSC. The Director of Justice Programs ensures that all aspects of the department are running effectively and is responsible for overseeing and expanding the Department.
Qualifications:
• A post-secondary degree/diploma in legal, law enforcement studies, social or mental health, or a related field of study
• 5 to 7 years of directly relevant managerial experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• In-depth knowledge and experience with financial management.
• Significant knowledge and understanding of justice issues in FN communities.
• Experience, knowledge, and willingness to advocate for Aboriginal issues and the current legal system is a must.
• Diplomacy, tact, and decision-making ability.
• Has excellent public speaking skills, experience writing proposals, and preparing budgets,
• Possesses strong leadership qualities.
• Has excellent planning and Organization skills.
• Ability to speak Ojibway, Cree or Oji-Cree is considered an asset.
