The Finance Officer is responsible for assisting the Finance Manager to provide financial services to the organization. The Finance Officer performs bookkeeping functions and financial administrative support to the Finance Manager.

Provides accurate and timely financial reporting as directed by the Finance Manager.a)Prepares and maintains all accounts payable transactions on a computerized accounting system.b)Prepares cheque requisitions as required, including account coding, entering accounting software, printingcheques, obtaining authorized signatures, and issuing cheques and EFTs as required.c)Analyzes accounts payable monthly.d)Maintains an up-to-date list of all cash disbursements.e)Processes and enters monthly bank reconciliation.f)Prepares and enters all cash deposits and pre-authorized payments, including post-dated cheques as theybecome current.g)Monitors post-dated cheques from clients and advises the Loans Manager when a new batch is required.h)Maintains a listing of all accounts receivable transactions, and, in consultation with the Finance Manager,follows up on accounts receivable not collected on time.i)Assists with the running of monthly financial statements.2.Monitors purchasing systems.a)Ensures price quotes on purchase orders match corresponding invoices.b)Ensure proper account codes are used for all purchases.c)Ensures proper authorization is obtained before processing payment of invoices.3.Processes travel advances and expense claims.a)Ensure travel advance requests provide completely accurate information and are properly authorized beforebeing processed for payment.b)Ensures that trip reports and receipts are attached to expense claims.c)Enters travel expense claims into the computerized accounting system.d)Reconciles travel accounts monthly, ensuring that all outstanding balances are paid out on time.e)Maintains a listing of outstanding travel credits receivable and follows up on travel credits not refunded on atimely basis.4.Assists the Finance Manager with the administration of payroll.a)Enters payroll information into a computerized accounting system from information provided by the HumanResources department.5.Posts accounting entries to Loans Management software; and assists Finance Manager with month-end loansdatabase processing.a)Posts loan disbursements and payments, and related transactions, to Loans Management Software.b)Reviews loan documentation and loans set up in FaaSBank for consistency, accuracy, and completeness.Other:•Fulfils the Finance duties of the Administrative Assistant, Finance, and Loans, during their absence.•Acts on behalf of the Finance Manager during their absence as requested.
Secondary school diploma. Completion of a course in bookkeeping or accounting or similar training is required. A minimum of two (2) years of proven experience performing computerized data entry and financial duties in place of education will be considered.Required: Post-secondary diploma in Business, Accounting or Administration.Preferred: Post-secondary degree in Business, Accounting or Administration.
