The Jordan’s Principle Training Coordinator will work closely with the Jordan’s Principle Coordinator to assist in developing, implementing training and providing resources to enhance community capacity in implementing Jordan’s Principle.  The Training Coordinator will develop and foster relationships with communities, Tribal Councils, First Nation organizations and other stakeholders and provide mentorship and advocacy support to ensure communities are best positioned to lead Jordan’s Principle implementation.

The Training Coordinator will assist in further development and implementation of a community-based case management model to support and enhance access to services as intended under Jordan’s Principle. The Training Coordinator will also be responsible for taking the lead in event planning, training and workshops with the assistance of the Jordan’s Principle Coordinator as required.

The Training Coordinator will assist and collaborate with the Jordan’s Principle Coordinator to develop and nurture effective, collaborative working relationships and build the trust necessary for successful partnerships.

 

 Support the Jordan’s Principle Coordinator to attend meetings in person which may include occasional travel if requested

 

Act as a guide and mentor, providing expertise and guidance necessary to support community readiness and delivery of Jordan’s Principle.

 

Develop and provide training and mentorship to community-based Jordan’s Principle Coordinators.

 

·       Respond to community requests for assistance in application processes, monitor, assist and advocate in situations where applications are delayed, denied or deemed complex.

·       Gather data and monitor the implementation of Jordan’s Principle, documenting successes, challenges, and issues to assist Executive Council advocacy efforts. This involves regular Community Coordinator Networking calls, creation of community practice with assistance from the Jordan’s Principle Coordinator if required.

·       Work collaboratively with First Nations, NAN-affiliated health organizations and local and regional services to support advocacy efforts to address needs of First Nations’ children and youth.

·       Work in coordination with other NAN departments to coordinate strategies and prioritize issues and opportunities

·       Prepare regular reports and updates to the Jordan’s Principle Coordinator and Jordan’s Principle Manager, which would include administrative duties such as the responsibility of documenting meeting notes/minutes

·       Actively participate in the NAN Special Needs Strategy to inform members of current Provincial and National updates and impacts and work collaboratively with other key stakeholders. 

·       Carry out administrative activities associated with Jordan’s Principle funding, such as PO’s, HRIS requests and other requested administrative tasks

·       Lead and implement the planning of conferences, meetings, or training sessions with support from the Jordan’s Principle Coordinator when requested 

·       Attend meetings, work shops or other events, as required.

·       Ensure the regular maintenance of an effective filing system for documents along with the Jordan’s Principle Coordinator

·       Providing direct support/training for Jordan’s Principle Coordinators at the Community, Tribal Council levels, coordinate regular meetings and networking calls for NAN Community Coordinators with the support of the Jordan’s Principle Coordinator as needed.

·       All other duties, as assigned.

ACOUNTABILITY

The Jordan’s Principle Coordinator is under the day-to-day supervision of the Jordan’s Principle Manager and with overall accountability for performance under the Director of Social Services.

 

·       Social Sciences or Human Services degree or equivalent; Diploma in Social Work, Rehabilitation, Child and Youth Care, Early Childhood, Developmental Services.

·       Minimum of five + years working in the field with direct experience in relation to children/youth and children/youth with exceptional needs.

·       Experience in developing and facilitating competency-based training and mentorship to community-based workers.

·       Knowledge and experience in case management and ability to support communities in this role.

·       Excellent communication, strategic planning, evaluation, and leadership skills.

·       Ability to organize and synthesize multiple ideas and complex information into well-composed reports within time limits. 

·       Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships. 

·       Experience and demonstrated skills in coordinating/facilitating meetings with multiple stakeholders and comfortable with using technology.

·       Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with community and regional resources and services throughout the NAN Territory.

·       Work experience with Indigenous people and communities and a demonstrated understanding regarding related issues and challenges.

·       Willing and able to travel to NAN communities as required

·       Demonstrate knowledge and experience of Jordan’s Principle

·       Experience and knowledge of children and children with exceptional needs. 

·       Experience in case management.

·       Experience and understanding of trauma informed practice and family dynamics.

·       Ability to speak NAN language (Ojibway, Cree or Oji-Cree) an asset.

·       Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

·       Demonstrate excellent organizational skills.
