Salary: $60,000 annually
About the Role
Animbiigoo Zaagi'igan Anishinaabek (AZA) is seeking a dedicated and motivated Educational Support Worker to join the Education Department. This role supports AZA members at the elementary, secondary, and post-secondary levels by providing guidance, advocacy, and assistance with educational planning and program access.
The Educational Support Worker works closely with the Education Manager, students, families, and educational institutions to promote student success, provide culturally appropriate support, and assist members in navigating education programs, funding opportunities, and transitions between education levels.

Key Responsibilities
Academic Support & Advocacy
- Provide guidance to students and families regarding educational pathways and opportunities
- Support students in identifying academic and career goals
- Advocate for AZA students within school systems when required
- Assist students experiencing academic challenges in accessing supports
Education Program Support
- Assist with administering education programs and services
- Maintain accurate student files, documentation, and records
- Support reporting requirements related to education funding and programs
- Assist with coordinating meetings, workshops, and initiatives
Post-Secondary Support
- Assist students with post-secondary applications and funding processes
- Support completion of required documentation for funding
- Provide information on scholarships, bursaries, and financial assistance
- Maintain communication with post-secondary institutions
School Visits & Monitoring
- Conduct visits to schools attended by AZA students
- Communicate with school staff and students regarding progress
- Attend meetings such as case conferences or IEP meetings when appropriate
Cultural Support & Community Engagement
- Promote culturally safe learning environments
- Encourage integration of Anishinaabe culture and values in education
- Act as a liaison between AZA, schools, and families
- Participate in community education events and outreach
Qualifications
Education
- Diploma or certificate in Education, Social Services, or a related field
- Equivalent experience may be considered
Experience
- Experience working with youth, education programs, or community services is an asset

- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Culturally respectful and community-focused approach
Additional Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License
- Reliable vehicle required
- Vulnerable Sector Check
- Ability to travel regularly for school visits and meetings
- Occasional evening or weekend work for events and workshops
Working Conditions
- Office-based position with travel to partner schools and institutions
- Occasional overtime during peak periods or program deadlines
- Participation in community meetings and events as required
