Duties: Delivers wildland fuel management, prescribed fire and wildfire suppression services in support Parks Canada's fire management programs at Pukaskwa National Park and various other Parks Canada sites across the country. As a part of the Resource Conservation, you will assist in a variety of projects, vegetation management, incident response and apply prevention and visitor safety strategies. 

 

Education 

• A secondary school diploma or acceptable combination of education, training, experience in a field related to the position. 

Experience 

Experience working and/or travelling in remote areas for extended periods 

Experience working in a field related to fire management, environmental management, vegetation maintenance, logging industries, arboriculture, outdoors recreation 

Ability to perform calmly, work safely, efficiently and take direction under high stress • Ability to research/collect and report information

 Asset qualifications 

Experience in wildfire management 

Experience in operating an ATV (with successful completion of the Canadian ATV Safety Course), using an handheld VHF Radio, and in using various informatics software 

Preference will be given to candidates who have already successfully completed the SP100 course or CIFFC equivalent, and/or who have experience in wildfire management. 

 

 

 

 

Knowledge 

• Knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other related Occupational Health and Safety (OSH) issues 

 

Abilities 

Ability to maintain supplied equipment in state of readiness
