Services focus on participants who identify as Veterans living within the District of Thunder Bay 

and are experiencing various degrees of homelessness. The Service Navigator helps 

participants explore service confirmation through Veterans Affairs Canada, provides guidance 

on eligible activities within the Veteran Homelessness Program, and coordinates a 

comprehensive continuum of supports to help Veterans move towards self-sufficiency and to 

prevent the risk of becoming homeless.

Social Work Degree, Social Service Worker Diploma, or a degree or diploma in an acceptable related discipline.

Minimum of three years’ experience in case management and service coordination.

Experience in and knowledge of cross sector community services.

Demonstrated aptitude for broad exploration of new and unique means of attaining goals.

Demonstrated ability to relate to vulnerable people with sensitivity and respect.

Ability to initiate the helping process with a wide variety of people, work co-operatively and effectively with other professionals, and 

organize self to respond to high work demands is required.

Intermediate knowledge of personal computer operation including word processing, data entry, and file management required. 

Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills are required. Ability to speak French will be considered an asset. 

Experience working with or strong knowledge of Veterans Affairs Programs. 

Experience working with individuals experiencing homeless or are otherwise vulnerable. 

Valid driver's license, use of a vehicle and appropriate insurance coverage. Successful 

completion of Criminal Reference Check – Vulnerable Sector screening, Conflict of Interest declaration and Oath of Confidentiality.
