Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven?professional to join our team in the role of?Professional Experience Year (PEY) student.  

  

In this role, you will be mentored, & your work reviewed to understand your knowledge, skills, and capabilities, in order to challenge & foster growth & development, receiving hands on support, with the available knowledge & support of almost 200 OPG engineers across Ontario. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to work on real-world projects, allowing you to make meaningful contributions to the organization, and to the people of Ontario, while gaining valuable, practical experience.

•    Assist with developing and executing an annual project portfolio of $80-$120M
•    Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals to support the operation of various hydroelectricity generation systems at 11 hydroelectric generating stations, with a total of 39 generating units.
•    Apply Engineering Principles: Use your knowledge from coursework to design, test, and improve products, systems, or processes.
•    Engage in Problem-Solving: Tackle real engineering challenges, analyze data, and develop innovative solutions that have tangible impacts.
•    Maintaining written documented processes and procedures to reflect improved operating methods and additions to all supported systems. 
•    Actively contribute to safety planning by providing proactive input and maintaining a respectful questioning attitude to ensure your own safety and the safety of others during all off-site tasks. 
•    Other tasks as assigned.  ? 

•    Pursuing a full-time undergraduate degree at an accredited institution on a full-time basis OR by the start of the opportunity in May 2026, will have completed 3rd year of a 4-year program or 4th year of a 5-year program.
•    Now hiring into the following disciplines: 
     o    Mechanical Engineering
     o    Civil Engineering
     o    Electrical Engineering
•    Have a minimum average of 70% GPA (B-) 
•    Will be returning to full-time studies in the same program following the completion of the work term.
•    Currently enrolled and meets the minimum eligibility requirements for the Internship or Co-op Program as defined by your academic institution. 
•    Willingness to learn, take initiative, and adapt to new challenges and superior analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills and demonstrated project management, organizational, and leadership abilities
•    Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
•    Demonstrate strong communication skills to refrain from proceeding with work if you do not fully understand the hazards involved or the controls in place to mitigate those hazards.
•    Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team with a proven aptitude for managing multiple tasks and priorities efficiently
