The purpose of this contract position is to facilitate the professional delivery of educational workshops developed for SBE Group (SBE). In addition to course delivery, there is a requirement of on-going improvement to existing materials and course development. Through continuous professional development, you will be able to stay current and educated in your field of expertise. This well-rounded contract position will provide opportunities for new and existing customers to benefit from all that SBE Group has to offer.

    Duties:Duties: under service of the contract Administrative Tasks Working as an independent contractor, you will be required to perform administrative duties as part of your contracts with SBE that will include, but are not limited to:
  • Establish formal business and register business name. 
  • Provide a current criminal record check to SBE (no older than 1 year). 
  • Sign Work Agreement upon commencing the working relationship with SBE. 
  • Agree to individual terms outlined in Contract Form for each workshop project.
  • Submit invoicing in a timely fashion following the completion of a workshop or work period.
  • Provide their own large external hard drive. 
  • Securing travel to and from airport for before and after the workshop.
  • Provide laptop with appropriate software, anti-viral software, attachments for power point projectors, and cell phones and other tools of the trade that allow you to complete the contracts and provide the best service possible to our clients.
  • Be familiar with Dropbox Storage system and contribute to file management.
  • Workshop Related Tasks

The primary aim for a contracted Facilitator is the delivery of educational workshops in First Nations communities throughout Canada. In this role you will be facilitating the workshops (providing your services) that have been prepared by and for SBE. In addition to the delivery of existing material, Contractors are expected to contribute to ongoing improvements and development of workshop materials, including handouts, manuals, and PowerPoint presentations as part of their service contracts. The expectations associated with facilitation contracts, professional development, and workshop enhancement are outline below and may be altered at a future time as needed by the Corporation: 

  • No consumption of alcohol or drugs while in First Nation communities.
  • Arrive 1 hour prior to workshop beginning. 
  • Responsible for cost of meals and food while working.
  • Must be knowledgeable of workshop content, manuals, and resources (which enable you to preform the services of your business to SBEgroup and the clients).
  • Ensure workshop space is clean and tidy at the end of each day. 
  • Follow workshop content using your specific business skill sets.
  • In the event of low/no attendance, or excess down-time, additional project work will be assigned in order to use workshop time in a constructive and productive manner. 
  • Ensure adequate office supplies for workshops ie. Markers, tape, paper, etc which allow you to offer your services to SBEgroup. 
  • Provide a supply of participant manual folders and name tags for workshops. 
  • Provide their own power point clicker allowing you to complete the contract. 
  • Provide own ice breaker supplies allowing you to complete the contract.
  • Print and mail participant certificates within 1 week of returning home from the workshop.
  • Provide community photographs (band office, schools, flags, lakes or point of interest) to SBE via text or email within the 24 hrs of arriving in every community. 
  • Daily communication with SBE regarding any issues, problems, updates, attendance numbers and general progress of workshop, prior to 9pm each day. 
  • Be familiar with icebreakers currently provided by SBE and use as needed in each workshop.
  • Provide a group photograph (only with participants permission and interest) by the end of each workshop to SBE via text or email. Professional Development:
  • Regular on-going professional development that will enhance your knowledge for your workshops in your subject area(s) is expected. Workshop Enhancement:
  • Ongoing workshop improvements are required and essential to ensure continued growth of programs, resources, and materials and is an expectation as part of all projects and contracts.                                                                                                                                               
  • All workshop revisions, presentation amendments, and recommendations must be approved by SBE. Public Relations/Marketing:

As a contract representative of SBE, you will be asked to assist in the procurement of future opportunities for the Corporation. In addition to maintaining positive relationships with community member, you will also be expected to promote SBE in the following ways:

  • Post SBE posters where appropriate.
  • Hand out SBE flyers and promote SBE workshops, services and resources.
  • Cultivate positive relationships within First Nations communities.
  • Maintain the highest professional standards of conduct as a representative of SBE.
  • Forward any leads for future workshops to SBE to follow up.
  • Collect business cards and information that would be beneficial to SBE securing further workshops for you.

 

This well rounded and diverse contract position is viewed as the face of the Corporation and should be regarded as a position of integrity, pride, and professionalism. You are expected to follow the Policies and Procedures that have been set out by SBE and work in accordance with the Terms and Conditions that were agreed to upon signing of the Independent Contractor Agreement at the beginning of your contact.
